(2025)

shortfilm, 6 min., super8

‘HOW AM I FERMENTED’ consists of three b/w films, each developed in separate batches of photochemistry made with sun-fermented plant infusions. bioregional memory unfolding in fermentation jars. wild yeasts and molds growing, odor, texture and color changing, complex structures forming, microbes invisibly working. like our identities, shaped beneath the surface, silently absorbing unspoken absolutes.

in “south tyrol” or “alto adige”, an alpine region between italy and austria, borders, languages, and cultures have overlapped throughout history. under fascist dictator benito mussolini’s forced italianization, culture and languages were suppressed and erased. the region’s multifaceted identity only survived through silent resistance, a story of preservation, decay and transformation.

this film was first screened in Bangalore, India as part of an independent film screening, was part in the COWMAG exhibition Sep. ‘25 at the UT Vrijhof in Enschede, Netherlands and the “LONELY HEARTS CLUB PARADE” screening Feb. ‘26 at Borgo Santa Brigida 5A, Parma, Italy.
